Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's PA assaulted me, alleges AAP MP Swati Maliwal; BJP reacts

| @indiablooms | May 13, 2024, at 07:42 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: In a startling claim, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal has alleged she was assaulted by the Personal Assistant or PA to Delhi Chief Minister and the head of her party, Arvind Kejriwal, media reports said.

"One PCR call at 9:34 AM has been received at PS Civil Lines from a lady saying she (Swati Maliwal) has been assaulted at CM House. After some time, MP Madam came to PS Civil Lines, however, she left stating she will give a complaint late," police said as quoted by Mint.

Reportedly, Maliwal made two PCR calls at around 10 pm.

A team of PS Civil Lines reached the CM's residence after the calls. However, no action was taken by CM's residence or AAP.

Maliwal, a former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson, was elected as the AAP MP from Rajya Sabha in January 2024.

She was in the news a few days ago after 223 DCW employees were sacked by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena in a major crackground against the city government.

It is alleged that Maliwal as the DCW chairperson made those appointments violating rules.

The Lieutenant Governor's office claims 223 new posts were created without the approval of the LG while it has a sanctioned strength of 40 posts.

In a strong response to the sacking, Maliwal said, "Maliwal, the former DCW chairperson, "LG sahab has issued a Tughlaqi order to remove all the contract staff of DCW. Today, the Women's Commission has a total staff of 90 out of which only 8 people have been provided by the government, the rest are on 3-month contracts. If all the contract staff is removed, the Women's Commission will be locked. Why are these people doing this?

"This institution has been built with blood and sweat. Instead of appointing staff and giving protection, you are destroying it from its roots? I will not let the Women's Commission be closed as long as I am alive. Put me in jail, don't torture women!"

BJP reacts

Reacting to Maliwal's allegations against Kejriwal's PA, BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya posted on X, " AAP RS MP and former DCW chief Swati Maliwal alleges that Delhi CM’s PA assaulted her. Call made from Delhi CM’s House.

"Remember, Swati Maliwal had maintained radio silence on Kejriwal’s arrest. She was infact not even in India at that time and didn’t return for a long time."
