Srinagar, Feb 10 (IBNS) :  Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said she was “deeply disturbed” by the terrorist attack in Jammu’s Sunjuwan Army camp in which two jawans and two children were killed  and four others sustained injuries.

“Deeply disturbed by the terrorist attack in Sunjwan today. My heart goes out to the injured & their families,” the  CM wrote on Twitter.

Three heavily armed terrorists carried out the attack at around 4:30 am by opening indiscriminate firing and lobbing grenades inside the camp situated in Sujwan area of Jammu district. The militants attacked the family quarters at Sunjwan Army camp leading to the death of two children.

Reports further added that the terrorists later entered inside the camp of 36 Brigade and engaged the troops in a gun battle.

Army officials told IBNS that a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), a non-commissioned officer (NCO) and two children were killed and four army men injured in the ongoing attack.

Soon after the attack, reinforcement of army’s Special Forces and SOG rushed to the spot and cordoned off the whole area amid fierce gunfight.

Schools in the entire area around the camp have been closed by authorities as a precautionary measure.

A high alert has been sounded in Jammu and security beefed up in and around the city.

Intelligence inputs had warned of an attack on the Army or security establishment by Jaish-e-Mohammed in view of the death anniversary of Afzal Guru who was secretly hanged and buried in Tihar Jail on February 9, 2013.
