Deepak Prakash becomes new Jharkhand BJP chief

New Delhi/UNI: BJP on Tuesday announced the appointment of Deepak Prakash as party chief of Jharkhand.

According to a statement issued by National General Secretary Arun Singh, Party president J P Nadda has appointed Abdul Khader Haji as the party's state unit chief in Lakshadweep.

Prakash was party general secretary in Jharkhand. The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance staged massive victory with 47 seats in the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly on December 23 last year and the ruling BJP was reduced to 25 seats.

The appointments will be effective immediately, the statement added.
