Kadapa, July 26 (UNI): A debt-ridden farmer committed suicide by hanging himself at Boditippanapadu village in this district of Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours on Friday.

Police said that the deceased farmer, D. Ramachandrudu (41), raised groundnut crop on his four acres. He borrowed Rs 5 lakh to raise his crop but unable to repay the debt due to failure of his crop.

Unable to bear the pressure mounted by the money lenders, he went out of home and hanged himself in an abandoned house at the village.

Peddamudiyam police registered a case and shifted the body to government general hospital in Jammalmadugu. It may be mentioned here that a 24-year-old young debt ridden farmer committed suicide to consuming pesticide on July 19.

Interestingly, two suicides of farmers have taken place during the month of July in the Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s home district Kadapa.
