New Delhi/IBNS: In his first reaction to the shooting which took place outside Delhi's Jamia Millia University on Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the culprit won't be spared as he has asked the police commissioner to take stringent action.

Shah tweeted, "I talked to Delhi Police Commissioner over the shooting which took place in Delhi today. The central government will not tolerate any such incident. The investigation will take place and the culprit won't be spared."

One student was injured after a man carrying a gun opened fire at an anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protests outside Delhi's Jamia Millia University on Thursday.

In a dramatic scene which took place just before 2 pm, a man was seen brandishing his gun and pointing towards the protestors while walking backside.

In a video which shows the entire scene, the man was heard saying, "Yeh lo azaadi. Delhi Police zindabaad. Hindustan zindabaad."

The injured student was rushed to a hospital.

The shooter, identified as Rambhakt Gopal from his Facebook profile, has been arrested.

Gopal was brandishing his gun openly, and his action was preplanned, claimed media reports.

The attacker's Facebook profile shows he was live on the social networking site before firing at the protestors.

The incident took place while the students were marching towards Rajghat.

Slamming the BJP, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted, "These incidents are possible when BJP ministers and leaders make provocative speeches. The Prime Minister must answer what kind of Delhi he wants to make. Does he stand by violence or non-violence? Does he stand by development or anarchy?"
