Kolkata/UNI: Railways is continuously running the Oxygen Express trains in a mission mode and transporting Liquid Medical Oxygen successfully to different corners of the country to fight against the second wave of COVID-19.

The Eastern Railway (ER) on Monday ran its second Oxygen Express train from CTDI Siding at Durgapur to Delhi as a part of IR’s effort to meet up the need of medical oxygen at different corners of the country, through fast transportation of Oxygen Containers.

Loading of six oxygen containers in this Oxygen Special train (consisting of BLC type wagons) started today morning from CTDI Siding, Durgapur. The train is carrying a total 120.18 Tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen in six Oxygen Containers. Each of the containers has the capacity of loading approximately 20.03 Metric Ton of liquid Oxygen.

The Oxygen Express train passed Durgapur at about 11:18 am today and will run through a Green Corridor with a maximum Speed of 65 KMPH via Grand Chord Route i.e. Asansol-Sitarampur-Dhanbad-Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Jn. Route to Delhi. The expected time of arrival at Delhi is within 24 hours.

The green corridor is created for the faster movement of these tankers and monitoring of movement was done at the apex level as we know that it’s a difficult time for our nation.

Railways transported essential commodities and kept the supply chain intact even during the lockdown last year and continue to serve the nation in times of emergency in the wake of the second wave of COVID pandemic.
