‘Countdown has begun’: PM Modi says TMC’s ‘jungle raj’ set to end in Bengal

Kolkata/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday alleged that the “jungle raj” run by the All India Trinamool Congress in West Bengal is nearing its end, as he sounded the assembly poll bugle while addressing a massive rally in Kolkata.

Speaking at the Brigade Parade Ground, Modi said political change in the state was inevitable in the upcoming elections.

“The countdown has begun for those who brought jungle raj to Bengal. The day is not far when the rule of law will return to Bengal. Whoever breaks the law will not be spared, and the atrocities of TMC will not be spared,” the Prime Minister said.

“No matter how much this ruthless government tries now, it will not be able to stop this storm of change. Maa Durga is with BJP-NDA,” he added.

Modi further claimed the ruling party had tried to stop people from attending the rally.

“Yesterday, the TMC abused all of you who came to this rally by calling you thieves. But the people of Bengal know very well who the real thieves are. Seeing its power slipping away, the ruthless government here has become desperate.

“Even today, they used every possible means to try to stop this massive gathering. They even shut down bridges to stop you from coming and tore down BJP posters. But the ruthless government should see clearly today — they could not stop this massive crowd,” he said.

The Prime Minister also alleged that several central government schemes were being blocked unless local leaders received “cut money”.

“The TMC government has only one agenda. These TMC people won't work themselves, nor will they let others work. Until they get their cut of the money, they won't let any scheme reach the villages or the poor. That’s why the TMC government keeps blocking the central government’s schemes,” Modi said.

The rally was held just days before the Election Commission of India is expected to announce the schedule for the West Bengal Assembly elections.
