Cop killed in J&K

Srinagar, Oct 24 (IBNS) Unknown gunmen shot dead a policeman outside his residence at Qaimoh area in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Thursday, officials said on Friday.

According to reports, gunmen targeted the policeman from point blank range and killed him on the spot.

The deceased was identified as Rafiq Ahmad Mir (38) son of Mohammad Ramzan Mir, a resident of Hasanpora Bagh.

Rafiq, was shifted to sub-district hospital Bijbehara where doctors declared him brought dead,officials said.

The policeman was posted with IRP 12 bn and posted at Mattan area in Anantnag district.

Meanwhile, the army, the Special Operation Group of Police and the CRPF have cordoned off the area and launched the hunt to nab the suspected gunmen who were involved in the attack.
