Consolidation of Power: Xi Jinping may amend party constitution soon

| @indiablooms | Sep 21, 2022, at 05:30 am

Beijing: The ruling Chinese Communist Party is planning to amend its constitution at the upcoming national party congress, triggering doubt that it might further elevate the position of President Xi Jinping.

This comes five years after the last revision at the previous party congress added Xi’s name to a body of guiding thoughts, reports South China Morning Post.

The party congress is scheduled to take place next month.

The congress is also expected to formally confirm Xi for an unprecedented third term as the paramount leader, and introduce sweeping changes at the top, the newspaper reported.
