New Delhi: The Congress party on Tuesday released its second list of 26 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled to be held in February 2025.

The list includes Asim Ahmed Khan and Devinder Sehrawat, both former legislators from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who recently joined the Congress on December 23.

Khan will contest from the Matia Mahal constituency, while Sehrawat has been fielded from the Bijwasan seat.

With this announcement, the Congress has now named 47 candidates for the upcoming elections.

Among the prominent names in the second list are Mukesh Sharma, who will contest from Uttam Nagar, and Farhad Suri, who has been fielded from Jangpura. Sushant Mishra has been given the ticket for Rithala, while Dharmpal Chandela will represent the party in Rajouri Garden.

Vineet Yadav has been chosen for the Rajinder Nagar seat, and Pushpa Singh will contest from Mehrauli.

The Congress had earlier released its first list of 21 candidates. In that list, Sandeep Dikshit, son of the late Sheila Dikshit and a former Lok Sabha MP, was announced as the party’s candidate for the New Delhi constituency.

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav was selected to contest from Badli, while party spokesperson Ragini Nayak was named for the Wazirpur seat. Abhishek Dutt will represent the Congress in Kasturba Nagar.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has already announced its candidates for all 70 constituencies and is contesting solo in the elections.

Chief Minister Atishi will run again from Kalkaji, while party convenor Arvind Kejriwal will contest from the New Delhi constituency.

Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj has been fielded from Greater Kailash.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has yet to release its list of candidates, is expected to announce its choices in the coming weeks.

The elections are being closely watched as all three parties gear up for a high-stakes contest in the national capital.
