New Delhi/UNI/IBNS: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday denied the government's charge that his party MP Manickam Tagore manhandled Health Minister Harsh Vardhan in the Lok Sabha.

'Congress MP Manickam Tagore did not attack anyone. Rather, he was attacked,' Gandhi told media persons in Parliament.

The face-off between Harsh Vardhan and several Congress leader broke out in the Lok Sabha after the former, while replying to Gandhi's question related to health, referred to the statement where the Congress leader had said youth of the country will beat up Prime Minister Narendra Modi with sticks if he fails to address the issue of unemployment.

Before answering Gandhi's question, Vardhan said, ".. I am surprised that Mr. Gandhi's own father was the Prime Minister of India and I don't think that in the worst of cases our party leaders make such outlandish personal remarks against him ever threatening that the youth will beat him with dandas and throw him out of the country...," leading Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and his colleagues to protest against the Union Minister.

Outside Parliament, Gandhi told media, "We were not allowed to speak. When I wanted to ask something, Health Minister was saying something else."

"The Prime Minister gave a long speech yesterday. He spoke about Jawaharlal Nehru, Pakistan, Congress but was unable to answer on what he is doing to give jobs to the youngsters who want employment," he added.
