Congress likely to win Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh state polls; Modi wave might benefit BJP in LS elections: Survey

According to the survey, the Congress is likely to oust Shivraj Singh Chouhan-government by winning 117 out of 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh. The BJP might get 106 seats.

Congress' Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia are the two key faces for the grand old party in the upcoming state polls.

Presently in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has 166 seats as opposed to Congress' 57.

In Rajasthan, the survey has predicted that Congress might win 130 out of 200 assembly seats, while limiting the BJP to just 57 seats.

Presently, Vasundhara Raje-led BJP is in power in Rajasthan with 160 seats under its belt while the Congress is a distant second with mere 25 seats.

Meanwhile, Raje has also started a 58-day long yatra, which is considered to be the BJP's campaign for the upcoming assembly polls, across the state.

In Chhattisgarh, the survey predicted the Congress to surpass the BJP by winning in 54 seats in a 90-member assembly. The saffron outfit might get reduced to 33 seats from the present figure of 49.

The Congress is presently in possession of 39 seats.

The Congress' gaining of states will probably give them an upper hand in the grand alliance, which is likely to form ahead of 2019 General Elections. The Congress will certainly get some room to pitch in its chief Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate as well as get a favourable situation in seat negotiations.

Despite the prediction of the Congress' sweep in all the three states, the survey's 28,000 respondents are likely to keep faith in Narendra Modi government when it comes to the Lok Sabha polls. Modi is still their first choice for the Prime Minister's post with Rahul as a distant second.
