Panaji, Mar 18 (UNI): While Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were holding deliberations with alliance partners to arrive at consensus for candidate for Chief Minister's post in Goa, Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Chandrakant 'Babu' Kavlekar on Monday arrived at Raj Bhavan at Dona Paula near the city to stake claim to form government.

Speaking to reporters outside the Raj Bhavan, he said Congress was not given an appointment by Governor Mridula Sinha in spite of repeated requests by the opposition party to invite it to form government being single largest party in the state assembly.

"We do not have an appointment, because she is refusing to give us time. But despite that, we have arrived here to meet the Governor to stake our claim. It is our right as a single largest party in the Goa assembly," he said.

Earlier also the Congress had staked claim to form government but still it was waiting for an invitation from the Governor.
