Bengaluru/UNI: Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa expressing confidence in his party's performance in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls has asserted that the Congress which is in a pitiable state will not secure more than 40 seats in the elections.

"I will give it to you in writing. Congress leaders who are going overboard in the state should remember that the Congress will not cross 40 seats in Lok Sabha elections," Yediyurappa warned Congress leaders against their over-enthusiasm.

He wished to make it clear to them that optimism is unwarranted given the projected outcome according to the BJP's assessment.

Vijayendra highlighted what he perceives as disarray within the Congress party in the state and questioned the credibility of its leadership, particularly targeting Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his criticisms of the Central government.

"The Congress is in a pitiable state. At this point, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's remarks against the union government do not bring any dignity to him," he said here on Friday.

Vijayendra stated that voters in Karnataka were clear about supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for another term and were not swayed by what he described as false promises.

Yediyurappa also challenged the Congress to present a candidate capable of matching PM Modi's stature, suggesting that the opposition party lacked a strong contender for the prime ministerial position.

"Can you show a single face in the INDIA bloc who can even match in terms of candidature with Prime Minister Narendra Modi? The Congress is daydreaming about forming the government at the Centre," he said.
