New Delhi, June 1 (UNI) Congress on Saturday expressed concern over increase in the price of subsidised and non-subsidised LPG cooking gas cylinders on the first day of the second term of the Modi Government and demanded to withdraw it in public interest.

Addressing a press conference here, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said the government has created a crisis before the people by increasing the price of subsidised and non-subsidised LPG cylinders for the fourth consecutive month.

He said the government should reconsider its decision immediately in the public interest.

The Congress spokesperson said the price of non-subsidised LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 25 and that of subsidised cylinders by Rs 1.23.
Mr Surjewala said the price of this cylinder was Rs 412 on May 16, 2014, which now costs Rs 497.37.

Due to this increase, people who get cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme will have more problems, so the government should withdraw the increased prices immediately, he added.
