Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge arrived here on Tuesday as part of a day’s maiden visit to Madhya Pradesh after assuming the mantle of party chief.

The visiting dignitary – whose helicopter touched down at the local Kajliwan Maidan – was accompanied by Congress state head and erstwhile chief minister Kamal Nath.

Kharge is scheduled to address a public meeting through the medium of which he will blow the electoral bugle for the Assembly polls this winter.

Earlier, the Congress President reached Bhopal by plane.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited this principal town of Bundelkhand region.

He laid the foundation stone for the Sant Ravidas Memorial and dedicated several development projects to the people.
