New Delhi, Oct 6 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday appreciated Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar for making moves to inspire people to work towards a clean India.

Gogoi on Sunday launched his  Clean Assam campaign.

Modi tweeted: " Glad to see Assam CM Tarun Gogoi ji inspiring the people of Assam to work towards a Clean India. #MyCleanIndia."

"I congratulate @sachin_rt for his efforts. Together we will make Swachh Bharat Mission a success. #MyCleanIndia," Modi said appreciating Tendulkar's initiative in Mumbai.

With a broom in his hand instead of a cricket bat, Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday cleaned a road in Mumbai as a part of the 'Swachh Bharat' campaign.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, Sachin said: "As I have been entrusted the  leadership role of 'Swachh Bharat' campaign by Shri Narendra Modi. Hence, I am here with my team to clean this area."

"We should try to keep India as much clean as possible. This process of cleaning the city might take a year but we should unitedly try to clean our country," he said.

Tendulkar on Thursday accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to join the 'SwachhBharat Mission'.

"I humbly accept the challenge," Tendulkar tweeted.

As a part of his Swachh Bharat Mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday invited nine eminent personalities to join his drive.
