Civilian injured in Kashmir by militants' misfired shots

Srinagar, June 10 (IBNS) : A civilian was injured after misfired shots from militants hit him in the Vesu area of south Kashmir's Anantnag on Saturday morning. Police said.

A police spokesman said that Meenu Arif, 45, a resident of Bakshiabad area of Anantnag, who works with a construction company in Banihal, got injured after shots fired at Government forces missed the target and hit his car.

Arif, according to the spokesman, said that he was on way to Banihal at 5 am when unknown militants fired upon the forces' vehicles moving ahead of his car.

"The fire missed the target and hit his car and he was injured in the back," said the spokesman.

He said that Arif was shifted to SMHS hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.

"About 20 empty cases of AK ammunition have been recovered from the spot. A case has been registered and investigation has been taken up," added the spokesman.
