Citizenship bill row: AGP may be go with anti-BJP stand parties in LS polls
Guwahati, Feb 14 (IBNS): After the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill lapsed in the Rajya Sabha, Assam’s regional political party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), who had snapped ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the row, on Thursday indicated that, the party may go with the anti-BJP stand parties for the Lok Sabha election.
AGP president Atul Bora said in a press conference held in Guwahati that, his party has not taken any decision so far, but all the issues will be discussed within some days.
“We have not decided till now. We will decide our future course of action within short periods,” Atul Bora said.
He further said that, AGP had snapped ties with BJP and three AGP ministers including him had resigned following BJP’s decision to pass the Citizenship bill in the parliament.
Hit out at the Assam Chief Minister, the AGP president said that, we were expecting the Assam CM to take same stand, similar to other Chief Ministers of the region.
“Conrad Sangma has taken bold stand and said that he will come out from the NDA if the bill is passed,” Atul Bora said.
