Citizens protest against Amarnath attack at Jantar Mantar

New Delhi, July 11 (IBNS): Protesting against the recent attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir, common people hit the streets with the campaign titled '#StandWithIndia' at Jantar Mantar here on Tuesday evening.

At least seven Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were killed on Monday evening in yet another terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district.

According to reports, the terrorists opened fire on a bus of pilgrims around 8.20 PM which injured about 12 persons as well.

The bus, which was coming from Gujarat, was reportedly not part of the main yatra convoy.

As a result it was not registered with the shrine board, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) told media.

The CRPF covers the main yatra convoy otherwise.

Even as condemnation poured in from all quarters, Kashmir Police on Tuesday said the LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) was behind the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Anantnag district on Monday evening killing seven yatris and leaving many injured.

Kashmir IG said the attack was carried out by the Lashkar.  Pakistani terrorist Abu Ismail is said to be the main mastermind behind it.

People who are currently in the protest at Jantar Mantar, demanded strict actions against the terrorist group by the central government and tighter rules to protect the citizens from such attacks in future, highlighting a picture of unified India.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said the attack is "an assault on our values and traditions".
