Citation of data while children are dying not acceptable: Sachin Pilot slams Ashok Gehlot over Kota row
Kota/IBNS: In an embarrassment for the Congress government in Rajasthan, Deputy Chief Minister of the state Sachin Pilot on Saturday slammed Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot saying citation of data at a time children are dying at a hospital is not acceptable.
Gehlot on Thursday sparked a controversy by pointing out that the deaths of children in the state declined in comparison to the previous year even as more than 100 infants died at Kota hospital.
Visiting the hospital, Pilot said, "We should have been more compassionate. We should not point out fingers at the previous government as we are voted to power."
"Getting into data over deaths of children is not acceptable. Someone must be held accountable," the Deputy Chief Minister said.
Gehlot had tweeted, "Govt cites figures to say child casualties in JK Lon Hospital in Kota have reduced to 963 this year from 1260 in 2015 and 1193 in 2016 when the state was ruled by BJP. In 2018, 1005 children lost their lives here."
Meanwhile, the death toll on Saturday touched 107.
Gehlot, however, accepted that some of the incubators in the intensive care unit were not working.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan assured Gehlot support from his side and sent a high-level team to the state.
