CISF officer on shooting spree kills 3 colleagues
According to reports, the incident occurred at the paramilitary force’s base situated about 10 kilometres away from the main power plant.
It was unclear, what led to such brutality said one of the officers of CISF.
"They had assembled for morning duty when he opened fire," CISF spokesman Hemendra Singh is quoted by media as saying.
He said the entire matter is under investigation.
It has been learnt that, the attacking personnel, Vijay Pratap Singh is highly experienced and been with the force for 24 years.
“We immediately detained him and handed him over to the police," Hemendra said.
Operations at the nuclear power plant were unaffected, he added.
The CISF is tasked with guarding key government offices and monuments such as the Taj Mahal, as well as nuclear plants.
According to police, the incident took place around 5:15 a.m., when the CISF personnel were asked to fall in line for roll call.
One of the CISF personnel triggered his 9mm carbon gun killing Ganesan, an Additional Sub-Inspector; Subbaraj and Mohan Singh, both Head Constables, on the spot and inflicting injuries on Pratap Singh, ASI; and Govardhan Singh, HC.
CISF assistant sub-inspector P Singh and head constable Govardhan Singh, who suffered injuries, were admitted to Chettinad Hospital on the outskirts of Chennai.
Media reported that there were at least 50 more CISF personnel when the shootout happened.
CISF senior officers have rushed to the scene soon after the incident.
