Srinagar, June 22 (IBNS): One of the four terrorists killed in the gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday was  the chief of Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK), police told media.

Police identified one of the terrorists killed as Dawood.

He was the head of the ISJK, an affiliate of ISIS.

The encounter, which began at 5:30 am, led to the death of a civilian besides the killing of four terrorists and a cop, reports said.

The encounter initially began as a search operation after an intelligence input from the security forces informed the presence of terrorists in a house.

However, things took a turn for the worse after the terrorists hiding in the house opened fire. The owner of the house has been killed in the gunfight and his wife has been injured.

Reports claim that internet services in the valley of Srinagar and Anantnag have also been suspended.
