Chennai techie accuses wife of harassment amid divorce battle, she calls him 'sex predator'

Chennai/IBNS: A techie from Chennai has accused his wife of harassing him amid a legal battle over their divorce and custody of child, media reports said.

In a series of X posts, Prasanna Sankar, who is the co-founder of HR tech-startup Rippling, narrated how he was allegedly harassed by his wife.

In the post, Sankar claimed he is on the run from Tamil Nadu.

Sankar said his 10-year marriage with his wife Dhivya collapsed over the latter's alleged extra-marital affair.

Amid their negotiating process as a part of divorce, Sankar claimed his wife filed a fake police complaint accusing him of assaulting her and raping her.

"Singapore police have investigated these allegations, found them baseless and have cleared me from all charges," said Sankar.

"I filed for a divorce in India. She filed for a divorce in the US, to try and make more money from the divorce."

Sankar further claimed that his wife abducted their nine-year-old son to the US prompting him to file an international child abduction case.

The US court, as he claims, asked his wife to return the child.

"Since she had violated laws in Singapore, she negotiated with me to instead come to Chennai, our home town and settle down here. We signed an MOU - I'd pay her approx 9 Crores and 4.3 Lakhs/month," Sankar claimed.

Sankar alleged, "Concerned, I moved to the courts, saying I'll return my child only after the passport is deposited in the locker. She did not attend the courts. Instead she showed up to my hotel at 10 PM in the night and calls my son to the lobby for 10m luring him which I stopped."

"She then chose to call the police and filed a kidnapping complaint against me. The police knocked on the door in the middle of the night before which I was able to escape with my son. "

Sankar claimed Dhivya negotiated with him on sharing the child's custody but eventually it happened.

But the dispute started again after his wife allegedly refused to agree to the MoU, particularly over depositing the child's passport in a locker shared by both.

He said, "As a part of the MOU, she had to deposit the child's passport in a common locker since I was worried she could fly away. She refused to follow it. She started claiming that the MOU is not valid and she wants more and will go to the US again to file a divorce."

"Concerned, I moved to the courts, saying I'll return my child only after the passport is deposited in the locker. She did not attend the courts. Instead she showed up to my hotel at 10 PM in the night and calls my son to the lobby for 10m luring him which I stopped."

"She then chose to call the police and filed a kidnapping complaint against me. The police knocked on the door in the middle of the night before which I was able to escape with my son."

"I immediately send the police my side of the story with my lawyers and explain the child was voluntarily handed over. And the child is happy with me and show him on a video call. And that the matters are before the court. Hence cops shouldn't interfere."

The techie's wife claims 'wrongdoing'

Dhivya has claimed Sankar forcibly took their son from her.

"We returned to India and I thought at least now my son and I could live peacefully but he is not allowing that too," she claimed as quoted by NDTV.

Calling her husband 'sex predator', Dhivya alleged Sankar was arrested in Singapore for "secretly recording women" and later was released.
