Chennai: Six-year-old girl dies after metal gate falls on her

Chennai: A six-year-old Class-1 girl student of a private school was crushed to death after a metal rolling gate of a shop fell on her at the Kilpauk area in Chennai on Sunday.

The incident occurred when the security guard tried to close the gate.

Police arrested the security guard and the manager of the building.

The deceased was identified as S Harini Sree and her father works as a Valet in the building.

The girl was playing near the gate, waiting for her father to finish his work and take her to the home when the tragedy occurred.

When the security, tried to close the gate, it fell on the girl, who had head injuries and was immediately rushed to the Government Kilpauk Medical College hospital where she succumbed on Sunday.

Kilpauk Police registered a case and sent it for autopsy.

Following the incident, police arrested Sampath (65), the security guard and Srinivasan (63), the building manager.

They were booked under section 304 A (causing death by negligence) and produced before a Court and remanded in judicial custody.
