Cheap politics has become the identity of Congress: Nitin Gadkari
New Delhi, Feb 11 (IBNS): Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday said indulging in cheap politics has become the identity of the Congress after the Madhya Pradesh Congress tweeted a news report to suggest that the lawmaker from Nagpur is attacking his own party and prime minister Narendra Modi for its "caste politics".
The string of events began on Sunday when addressing a meeting near Pune, Gadkari, who is an MP from Nagpur, said: "We do not believe in casteism... I do not know about you but there is no place for caste in our five districts because I have warned everybody that if anyone talks about caste, I will thrash him."
The Madhya Pradesh Congress tweeted a news report on Gadkari's comment and wrote in Hindi: "Once again, Gadkari has made a direct attack on Modi and the BJP."

"Speaking against the party's fundamental ideology, BJP leader Nitin Gadkari has said he will beat up anyone who speaks about casteism...!
"Gadkariji, when will you beat up those who seek votes in the name of Lord Hanuman's caste?"
The reference is to some BJP leaders trying to garner support by claiming Lord Hanman was of a certain caste.
Reacting to this, Garkari on Monday said on Twitter: "It is unfortunate that cheap politics has become the identity of the country's oldest party. @incindia's politics has been reduced to wordplay and spreading lies. The party is now breaking its own record in the politics of hate and revelling in the fact."

Earlier this month, subtly trying to portray Nitin Gadkari as a 'rival' to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday complimented the Union Minister and former BJP president as the “only one in the BJP with some guts”.
"Gadkari Ji, compliments! You are the only one in the BJP with some guts. Please also comment on: 1. The #RafaleScam & Anil Ambani 2. Farmers’ Distress 3. Destruction of Institutions," Gandhi tweeted.
In his tweet, Gandhi also referred to a news article, which quoted Gadkari as telling ABVP members, “One who can not manage his home cannot manage the country.”
Critics of Modi took the comment of Gadkari as a jibe to Modi as the PM had left his family at a young age.
Gadkari was quoted by the media as saying in the event: "I said (to him) first take care of your home, because one who cannot manage his home cannot manage the country."
