CBI nabs Jammu and Kashmir cop taking bribe

Jammu/UNI: The sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday arrested one Assistant Sub Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police for demanding and accepting a bribe from the transporter in Kathua district.

An official said that ASI Bhuri Singh was caught red-handed by the CBI while taking a bribe in Kathua district.

He was trapped following a complaint by a transporter from Punjab, they said adding, “in a complaint, the transporter namely Devinder Singh of Jalandhar alleged that the officer had demanded Rs 5,000 from him to release his seized truck despite court orders.”

Investigations into the case are in progress.
