CBI arrests five, including NHAI officer in a bribery case

New Delhi/UNI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Friday arrested five people, including Bengaluru Regional Officer of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), in connection with an alleged bribery case of Rs 20 lakh.

The CBI searches were conducted in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Cochin, Gurugram and Bhopal leading to recovery of Rs 4 crore.

Those arrested have been identified as Akil Ahmad (Regional Officer NHAI), besides three others who work for Dilip Buildcon Limited- General Manager Retnakaran Sajilal, Executive Director Devendra Jain, Sunil Kumar Verma, an official.

Anuj Gupta, a private person, was also arrested in connection with the case.

All the accused will be produced before the Court, said a CBI spokesperson.
