Raipur/Chennai, May 31 (IBNS): A huge fire broke in a market complex in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday afternoon, and it is feared that people may be trapped inside, according to media reports.

The fire was first noticed in the first floor of Ravi Bhawan, said to be Raipur's largest business complex.

The fire brigade, police and local administration have stepped up the fire fighting and rescue operations, local media reported.

According to unconfirmed sources, the fire may have resulted from short circuit in some plastic and perfume stores.

The seven story building houses around 400 shops.

In a separate incident, another fire was reported from Chennai in Tamil Nadu. Here a silk showroom caught fire, media reports said.
