New Delhi, July 25 (UNI): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) on Thursday opposed the Triple Talaq bill in the Lok Sabha.

Taking part in the discussion on The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, BSP member Kunwar Danish Ali questioned the logic behind converting a civil offence into a criminal offence under the bill.

The bill was also opposed by the YSRCP with Midhun Reddy of the party saying, ''We strongly oppose the Bill in the present form.''

He said term of imprisonment of three years under the bill is highly objectionable.

All India Trinamool CONGRESS (AITC) member Sudip Bandyopadhyay said, "We don't support the provision of three years punishment in the bill."

The bill, he said, should be referred to Joint Select Committee.
