BSF seizes gold consignment worth Rs 32 lac

Kolkata, May 1 (IBNS): The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday seized nine gold biscuits weighing 1044 grams with a value of approx Rs 32 lakhs, here.

According to the BSF, troops from Border-Out-Post (BOP) Banpur, 113 battalion from Krishnanagar sector, on Thursday got specific information that a big consignment of  gold will be smuggled by throwing over the  border fence from Bangladesh to India in the area.

The alert BSF troops seized the consignment at about 1155 hrs, and recovered nine gold biscuits wrapped in a black polythene bag. 

The seized items were handed over to customs Krishnanagar, Nadia.

BSF till now has seized approx 23 Kg gold worth approx Rs. 6.90 crores and apprehended 23 gold smugglers in 2014.
