BSF jawan kills colleague, injures another in Assam’s Karimganj district
Guwahati, Oct 10 (IBNS): A BSF jawan has died and another injured after one of their colleague opened fire upon them in Assam’s Karimganj district on Tuesday night.
The incident took place at Lakhipur Border Out Post (BOP) in the Barak valley district along Indo-Bangladesh border.
According to the reports, the incident happened at around 9:15 pm, while Shiv Yogi Yadav, a constable of 7th battalion of BSF, posted at the BOP engaged into an argument with two of his colleagues and opened fire with his Insas rifle.
In the incident, two head constables named Ashok Kumar Kangaria and A R Pal received serious injuries and they were immediately rushed to Karimganj civil hospital.
Later, doctors declared Ashok Kumar Kangaria brought dead.
Another injured BSF jawan has been referred to Guwahati Medical College Hospital for better treatement.
Following the incident, the accused BSF jawan, Shiv Yogi Pandey, had fled from the area with his Insas rifle, two loaded magazines with 40 rounds live ammunition, a wireless set.
Top police and BSF officials had rushed to the area and launched operation in bus stops, railway stations to nab the fled BSF jawan.
