Border Security Force (BSF) Inspector General, Kashmir Frontier Ashok Yadav on Saturday said that there are intelligence inputs that 250-300 militants are waiting at launch pads to cross the border.

The top BSF officer was talking to reporters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on the sidelines of a function.

“As per the intelligence inputs, 250-300 militants are waiting at launch pads to cross the border. But we and the Army have dominated all the vulnerable patches and we are confident of foiling any infiltration attempts,” the IG said.

He said the brave jawans in the border areas always remain alert to ensure no infiltration takes place.

Yadav said the connect has increased over the last few years between the security forces and the people of Kashmir.

Earlier, BSF organised a civic action programme for the benefit of poor villagers of remote areas at Malangpora Pulwama in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SKUAST.

The BSF IG, while inaugurating the skill development programmes, handed over 15 computers, sponsored by the ICICI Bank under Corporate Social Responsibility, to Principals of Malangpora and Padgampora school.

A free medical camp was also inaugurated by him.

In addition, BSF organised a recruitment rally-cum-awareness programme to prepare youth for the forthcoming employment opportunities in BSF and other armed forces.

Dr Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST graced the occasion along with other senior officers of different departments of GOI and J & K administration.

Around 3000 people from the community including students, women & girls, teachers and farmers from nearby villages enthusiastically participated in the program, a BSF spokesman said.
