Bring EPF scam culprits to book, says Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi

| @indiablooms | Nov 03, 2019, at 05:51 pm

New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) Slamming Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday said the State Government should bring real culprits of Employees Provident Fund scam to book.

Taking to the micro-blogging site twitter, Gandhi demanded that the real culprits have to be exposed, and attention should not be distracted by catching small fish.

“The lifetime savings of the employees of Electricity Department were trapped because of the BJP Government as people had invested in private firm Deewan Housing Finance Ltd (DHF). During the last election, the Government employees expressed their concerns about the new pension scheme which are now proving correct”, she further said in her tweet.

Putting Government in the dock, she questioned the UP CM that who took the decision to invest money in a dicey enterprise? “What is your answer for a person who faithfully put his lifetime earnings in your hands? And how many departments have invested the hard earned earnings of employees in such suspicious companies?”, she asked.

Massive funds were transferred to the DHFL by the UP Power Sector Employees Trust, beginning March 17, 2017, two days before Yogi Adityanath took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Taking a very serious note of the financial irregularities committed by senior officials of state-owned UP Power Sector Employees Trust, who violated norms while investing Rs 2,631 crore of the trust's funds with a controversial private firm DHFL, the State Government has recommended a CBI probe in this financial irregularity.
