New Delhi, Aug 8 (IBNS): Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day on Wednesday after paying obituary to DMK chief and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, reports said.

As the Lok Sabha met for the day, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan informed the members about the death of Karunanidhi and described him as a "visionary" and "leader of the masses."

After observing a minute's silence in respect of the departed leader, the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day.

In the Rajya Sabha, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu read out an obituary reference, in which he described Karunanidhi as a "multifaceted personality" and a "gritty figure."

After the members observed a minute's silence, Naidu adjourned the House for the day.
