Puducherry/UNI: The Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) on Friday took out a rally in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Led by BJP State President V Saminathan MLA, more than 1,000 party cadre gathered at the Swadeshi Cotton Mills and took out the rally which passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at the head post office.

The BJP suffered a setback when its allies the N R Congress and AIADMK stayed away from the rally announcing that there is no need to organize agitations in support or against the CAA when President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to it.
