BJP sitting MP Naleenkumar Kateel adds to Nathuram Godse row

Udupi, May 17 (UNI): Sitting BJP Mangaluru Lok Sabha member Naleenkumar Kateel had said while Nathuram Godse killed one person, former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi was responsible for the death of over 17,000 people.

This comes after the party's Bhopal candidate Pragya Singh Thakur said Godse was a "patriot" and later apologised after the BJP distanced itself from the remark.

Kateel on Friday tweeted while Godse had killed one man, Kasab killed 72, Rajeev Gandhi was responsible for the death of 17000. The BJP MP deleted the tweets after they went viral.

The remark on late Rajeev Gandhi was said to have made in the reference to the attack on Sikhs across the country in the aftermath of the assassination of the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Rajiv's mother.
