New Delhi, Nov 24 (IBNS): In this season of crucial assembly polls in the run up to the general elections next year, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hit the headlines not just for its political campaigns on the ground, but also for its leadership in the chart of television advertisements.

According to the latest data provided by Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, the BJP dislodged Vimal Pan Masala as the number one brand in the week ended Nov 16.

The saffron party is followed by streaming service provider Netflix and hotel price comparison site Trivago.

The Congress, which is the principal rival party of the BJP, did not even feature in the top 10 list.

Both the BJP and Congress are campaigning hard to clinch victories in the state elections to position themselves as favourites for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, which are just six months away.

The state elections will be held in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Mizoram and already took place in Chhattisgarh.

In all the states except Telangana and Mizoram, the BJP is in power.

The Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) and Congress are the incumbents in Telangana and Mizoram respectively.
