BJP is run by workers not by family: PM Narendra Modi

New Delhi, Jan 23 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said individual families run most political parties in India, but when it comes to the BJP, the party is family to the members.

Interacting with party functionaries in Maharashtra through video conferencing, Modi said: "No decisions are taken in the BJP keeping in mind the preferences of an individual or a family."

This comes on a day Priyanka Gandhi Vadra entered active politics. The Congress gave her the responsibility of eastern Uttar Pradesh where the constituencies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Varanasi) and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath (Gorakhpur) are located.

Saying that the BJP was a party of workers, Modi said: "It is a party made by the workers and a party dedicated to the country."

"In this party, priority is given to the voice of the party workers," he said.

"If there is one party that is run following the tenants of democracy, it is the Bharatiya Janata Party," he said.
