BJP, Congress harmed UP: BSP chief Mayawati

| @indiablooms | Apr 23, 2019, at 06:21 pm

Hardoi, Apr 23 (UNI) Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of not honouring its electoral promises on the one hand, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on the other hand held Congress responsible for the youth leaving Uttar Pradesh for better job opportunities to other places.

Addressing an electoral rally at the Kachauna town in support of BSP candidate Neelu Satyarthi from Mishrikh Lok Sabha seat in Hardoi on Tuesday, Ms Mayawati said that the BJP was soon going to exit from the Centre. The BJP did not keep any of its electoral promises and no theatrics or 'jumlebaazi' is going to help them in this election.

Mayawati further said, one reason behind this is that whatever promises of 'acche din', Prime Minister Narendra Modi made in the 2014 elections especially towards the poor, labourers, unemployed people, workers, youths, women, farmers, traders and hard working people along with poor tribal people, backward minority community people and other religious minorities, not even one-fourth of them was done on the ground level. Rather, more time was spent on making big industrialists and businessmen more rich.

Slamming the Congress, BSP president said, "In the long years of Congress regime when people could not get a way of earning a living, maximum desertion took place from Uttar Pradesh. To earn a living, people left UP to search for better opportunities in bigger cities. From Hardoi also, people went away to earn a living. By keeping such things in mind, we then formed our own separate party."

Accusing the BJP of misusing investigative agencies on the lines of the Congress, Mayawati said, "BJP government also misused CBI, ED and IT just like the Congress for its political gains, which is still continuing. In such circumstances, people should ensure that the Congress, BJP or any other opposition party should not come to power at any cost which have already been tested a lot of times.

Expressing her concerns at the EVMs, the former UP chief minister said that because of the glitch in the electronic voting machine in the 2017 Assembly elections, our female candidate could not win the election.
