New Delhi, Dec 26 (IBNS): The BJP on Wednesday started preparations for the 2019 general elections by appointing party-in-charges in 17 states and the Union territory Chandigarh.

Former Narendra Modi critic Gordhan Zadaphia was named the Uttar Pradesh in charge of the party in what is being seen as a spectacular comeback.

Zadaphia had left the BJP and contested against it before his return in 2014.

Party president Amit Shah also posted a video on Twitter urging people to donate between Rs 5 and Rs 1,000 using the Narendra Modi app.

The campaign line for the BJP in the 2019 general elections is "Phir ek bar Modi Sarkar", which translates to "Modi government, once again".
