BJP apologises for its UP senior leader's derogatory remark on Mayawati

New Delhi, Jul 20 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has apologised for the derogatory remark made by the party's senior leader from Uttar Pradesh Dayashankar Singh in connection with BSP chief Mayawati on Wednesday, according to media reports.

Dayashankar Singh is BJP's Uttar Pradesh vice president. Singh reportedly made the comments on Tuesday, said NDTV.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said that it was not right and he condemned the use of the word. He also said that the party will investigate into the matter and take action, the media reported.

In the Rajya Sabha, senior leaders from the Opposition condemned the remark. The Speaker also said that the remark of the BJP leader will be dealt with according to the law of the land.

Thanking all those who stood by her and protested against the verbal abuse, Mayawati remarked that what the BJP leader not merely insulted her but his own sister and daughter. "The country will not forgive the BJP for encouraging such people," she said.
