| @indiablooms | Jul 22, 2019, at 06:08 pm

Ranchi, Jul 22 (UNI) The Jharkhand BJP has once again accused the missionaries of involvement in illegal land dealings in the state and has demanded a probe into their activities.

Addressing a press conference here today, state BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said that Montfort Brothers of St Gabriel, a missionary institution headquartered in Rome, purchased the land from the tribals on throw away prices and later resold the plot, profitting 183 times.

He cited an example in which the missionaries violated the CNT-SPT Act and 4.23 acres of land in Namkum circle area was purchased in 2004-05 by Brother Cyril Lakra of Ranchi Province of Montfort Brothers of St Gabriel at Rs 2.6 lakh on the basis of three separate documents having differnt residential address and later the same land was sold in the year 2018 at Rs 4.76 crore.

The spokesperson said that the land was individually purchased by Borther Lakra, but at the time of selling it, the missionary institutions came forward despite the fact that those who work in the missionaries as Father, Brother and Sisters have no right to keep their individual property.
