Biplab Deb to swear in as new Tripura CM today

Agartala, Mar 9 (IBNS): Biplab Deb will take oath as the Tripura Chief Minister on Friday to head a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state.

A former gym instructor, BJP state president Biplab Deb was born in  Akraban, Udaipur in Gomoti District of Tripura. He was a volunteer with the RSS earlier.

BJP national president Amit Shah reached Agartala, the state capital of Tripura on Thursday evening to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

The NDA has uninstalled the 25-year long Left government in the state on last Saturday.

The BJP-IPFT alliance bagged 43 seats as opposed to Left's 16 seats in a 60-member Assembly with one seat left to be polled.

Deb will succeed Manik Sarkar as the CM of Tripura.
