Biju Yuva Janata Dal vice president expelled after arrest in police station attack case

Bhubaneswar, Mar 9 (UNI) Biju Yuva Janata Dal vice President Praksh Tripathy was expelled from the party soon after he was arrested in connection with the attack on police personnel of Sahid Nagar police station.

The Commissionerate Police today arrested Prakash Tripathy, prime accused in connection with the incident in which two police personnel were injured and the Sahid Nagar police station was ransacked on March 3 last.

Mr Tripathi, Vice President of Biju Yuva Janata Dal, the youth wing of the ruling BJD, was absconding after the incident. The Commissionerate police have so far arrested six people in connection with the attack on the police station.

Police said Mr Tripathi would be forwarded to court today. The police had earlier arrested former secretary of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal Amit Jena, in connection with
the incident..

A group of miscreants ransacked the police stations, damaged the CCTV Cameras,

TV set, furniture and assaulted the Police personnel on duty at the Sahid Nagar police station when they tried to stop them from attacking three persons detained in
connection with a road accident case.

The IIC and an ASI of the Police station were seriously injured in the attack.
