Bihar: Rape accused RJD lawmaker Raj Ballabh Yadav surrenders in court

Patna, Nov 9 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): Rape accused Bihar lawmaker Raj Ballabh Yadav surrendered in the court on Wednesday, a day after the Supreme Court had issued the order to this effect.

Yadav, who hails from Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), surrendered in the Biharsharif court in Nalanda district.

The development comes after the Supreme Court on Tuesday asked Yadav, accused of raping a school girl, to surrender for two weeks to enable the victim record her statement in the court.

Yadav is accused of raping a school girl at his residence in February this year.

The order comes a month after the Bihar government moved the apex court challenging the bail granted to the accused by the Patna High Court.

Earlier, the victim had apprehended threats to her life soon after Yadav came out on bail and urged the media persons to convey her concerns to the chief minister.

“He (Yadav) is out of jail... I am scared and afraid for my family. What will happen to them. I am already... dead after what happened to me. I have nothing more to lose,” was how the victim had said in her WhatsApp messages to media persons.
