Bihar: Police to honour woman who got her alcoholic husband arrested

Patna, Oct 26 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): Authorities in Bihar have announced to honour the woman who got her alcoholic husband arrested, risking her married life.

The woman Poonam Devi, a resident of Matuk-Chapra village in Siwan district, called up the local police and got her husband arrested after her every bid to quit his drinking habits failed.

Instead, he started assaulting his wife as well as children, eventually prompting her to see her husband behind the bars.

“I was fed up with him as failed to take notice of my repeated advice to quit drinking and start life afresh. Instead, he quit job and began creating nuisance under the impact of liquor but I didn’t to get my children’s career ruined and got him arrested,” was how Devi told the media.

Her bold step has now earned laurels from various her move and the local district administration has announced to honour the woman who took such a great initiate without caring her family life.

“We have planned to honour the woman who took this bold step,” the local Siwan district superintendent of police Saurabh Kumar Sah told the media today.

 

Bihar has imposed total ban on sale and consumption of liquor from April this year.
