Bihar Assembly polls: 59.46 % turnout in final phase
Polling in the fifth and final phase of the polls, which covered 57 constituencies across nine districts, was held amid tight security.
In the last phase of the five-phase, electorates decided the fates of 827 candidates.
BJP national spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain cast his vote in this phase of the polling.
Hussain tweeted: "Voted for Development & Progress of Bihar!!"
He said: "Turnout in this Final Phase is going to break all polling records of Bihar!!People are voting for 'Parivartan'!! "
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged voters to exercise their franchise in the final phase of polling.
The polls assumes significance as it will witness a battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Janata Dal (United) , the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
During the campaigning, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had regularly exchanged barbs which had set the tone for a crucial Assembly polls in the state.
