Bhopal: Ex-Army man arrested for allegedly raping inmates at shelter home

Bhopal, Sept 15 (IBNS): The inmates of a private shelter home in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, have alleged that they were being subjected to sexual abuse for a long time by the owner of the facility, who is a  former Army man, media reports said.

Based on the complaints, the 70-year old owner has been arrested.

Five inmates had first complained to the social justice department prior to lodging a complaint with the police.

The inmates alleged that one boy had died due to excessive bleeding after he was being subjected to sexual assault; the second one died after his head was banged against a wall while the third victim died after being forced to spend a night outside in the cold.

Forty two boys and 58 girls have lived in the shelter house since 2003.
