Bengaluru student shot dead in boarding room

Bengaluru, Apr 1(IBNS) A teenaged student of a Bengaluru college was shot dead and her friend injured allegedly by an office assistant in their boarding room on the city's outskirts on Tuesday night.

Police said the accused was arrested on Wednesday.

Gauthami, the 18-year-old second year pre-university student was residding at hostel. Her friend has been admitted to hospital.

Both of them  were in their room on the third floor of the hostel when the incident took place.

Police suspect Mahesh, the office assistant, to be a jilted lover.

He was  located after an extensive manhunt.

  Karnataka Home Minister KJ George, Bangalore Police Commissioner MN Reddi and other senior officials reached the spot to get first-hand information about the tragic incident.

Police investigation into the incident is on.
